Hello! My name is Mitchell, and I am an undergraduate student at Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Science. In the past, I have privately tutored approximately 30 clients, assisting them with SATs, AP classes, and college applications. I have also delivered SAT classes to groups of up to 20 students at a time as part of a non-profit community initiative.
Having recently undergone the challenges of high school, I can relate to students who are working hard to make it into top colleges. While the SAT may seem daunting, know that it is a "cookie-cutter" test, one that is easily predictable and unoriginal. It's easy to ace the SAT - if you know what tricks to look for. While studying for exams, I have developed strategies and shortcuts that cannot necessarily be found in textbooks. Using these methods, I hope to show you how to wipe the floor with standardized tests.
I'm also here to help you with the most important task you have in high school: making it into college. I've carefully examined the college applications of several close friends who have matriculated at top-tier schools. In the process, I have pinpointed common characteristics that would likely be of interest to any senior who is writing his or her application.
If you'd like to, feel free to chat with me in person before taking any lessons; I'll answer any questions you may have. Lastly, keep one thing in mind as you search for a tutor: there's an abundance of extremely intelligent and talented teachers out there, but for many of them, the SAT and college applications are in the past. Many have forgotten what it's like to be a teenager in high school. As a recent graduate, I can relate to you and understand how you grasp new information. For this reason, I'm confident that I can bring you up to your full potential.
